Behind the Evidence: How CivicFrames Turns Research into Song
The Gap Between Evidence and Action
Every year, thousands of research reports are published on climate vulnerability, educational exclusion, and economic marginalisation in Pakistan. These reports contain findings that could shape policy, redirect resources, and save lives. Yet most of them reach only the institutions that commissioned them. The communities most affected by the issues these reports document never encounter the evidence, because it arrives in formats they cannot access: PDF reports in English, behind institutional paywalls, written in the grammar of development professionals.
CivicFrames exists to close that gap. We take peer reviewed research, verified datasets, and credible institutional reports and translate their findings into songs, poems, field narratives, and visual stories that ordinary audiences can engage with. The research stays intact. The format changes.
How a Research Finding Becomes a Song
Our process begins with sourcing. We identify a credible evidence base: a UNICEF report on learning poverty, a World Bank dataset on groundwater depletion, a DHS survey on maternal health outcomes. We read the source material in full, extract the central finding, and document it with its original citation. Nothing enters the creative pipeline without a traceable evidence chain.
Next comes framing. We translate the finding from institutional language into human terms. A statistic about 22.8 million out of school children becomes the story of one girl in southern Punjab whose family chose between school fees and a second meal. The data point stays. The framing makes it felt.
Then we create. The framed narrative is handed to the production pipeline: lyric drafting in Urdu, melody composition, AI assisted vocal production through Suno.com, Roman Urdu transliteration for accessibility, and cover art that reflects the theme. Each song is built to carry the evidence while standing as a genuine piece of music that people would choose to listen to.
Finally, verification. Before any piece is released, we check every factual claim against the original source. Figures, place names, institutional references: all verified. The creative treatment is reviewed to ensure it does not distort, exaggerate, or misrepresent the evidence. Only after this editorial review does the piece go live.
